The realm time strategy aspect of Frozenheim doesn't make health recovery obvious. It is instead tied to the city-building aspect of the game. Players will need to make makeshift hospitals - the Healer's Hut - in critical locations to keep their army at full strength.
Unlike other Norse-themed games like Valheim that balance emphasizes survival and a sandbox experience, Frozenheim concentrates more on warfare. But there are still periods of peace where players can create a growing and stable empire. Everyone should still be mindful of this Frozenheim gameplay shift and plan enough resources.
The usefulness of healing in Frozenheim depends on the current game mode and objective. Several single-player campaign missions are more focused on building a settlement and less on warfare. In multiplayer, each team might shift between times of peace to long sessions of open battling. In those unpredictable matches, it is very good to have healing at the ready.

To build a Healer's Hut, players will first need to advance their main Jarl's Homestead to the second tier. This requires a population of at least 30, with each basic house able to accommodate four individuals. Most importantly, the Healer's Hut should be built within the same radius of any Frozenheim military barracks; otherwise, healers will not be able to reach the injured easily. Individual citizens must also be allocated to the healer role but can be reassigned to other jobs once everyone is healthy. Each Healer's Hut can have up to two doctors at a time.
When a combat unit needs to recover health, move them into the barracks, and from their abilities list, select the rest option (a helm icon with a plus sign on the upper right). The warriors will disburse and wait to be treated by doctors. The more healers and fewer patients, the faster the healing season will complete. If one wants to heal even faster in Frozenheim, consider constructing several Healer's Huts. Additionally, if a warrior is flat out dead, they will need to be replaced at the training field before the remaining members will form back into one military unit.
Wolf Clan Field Healing
Players who have selected to join the Frozenheim Wolf Clan will have a further healing option. Within their Elder House, a technology tree will be the option of healing within camps. This allows players to recover while exploring or deep in enemy territory. As the Wolf Clan in Frozenheim is designed to be aggressive invaders, this technology is vital to having a constant army that can defeat enemies and hold capture lands.
Since taking damage and healing are intertwined with conquest, one will ultimately have to decide how to build their society. While it is possible to tough it out without combat, there are many aspects of Frozenheim that become much more manageable with a standing army. And if players want to aim for peace, there is still always a chance that an enemy faction could suddenly arise during their game.
Frozenheim is available on PC.
