The racial politics of horror movies get delightfully deconstructed in The Blackening, written by Tracy Oliver and Dewayne Perkins and directed by Tim Story (Ride Along, Barbershop). In a genre defined by the infamous cliche of "black person dies first," what happens when a group of black friends all gather together at a dilapidated cabin in the middle of a deep, dark forest? As the film's tagline says, "We can't all die first."
