Angela Bassett's nomination for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the 2023 Academy Awards marks the first time the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever gotten a nomination in the acting categories of the important awards ceremony. Bassett's turn as Queen Ramonda was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress category, which was one of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's five total nominations at this year's Oscars. While this is the first time the MCU gets nominated at the Oscars in an acting category, the Black Panther franchise has already been making waves in the ceremony since the first movie.
