A critically-acclaimed romantic drama movie is leaving Netflix at the end of March 2023.
Brokeback Mountain is leaving Netflix’s available content on Friday, March 31. The 2005 Ang Lee-directed neo-western stars Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as two cowboys who work as sheepherders and fall in love in 1963’s Wyoming. The cast included Linda Cardellini, Anna Faris, Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams, and Randy Quaid. The film grossed over $178 million during its theatrical run opposite to a $14 million production budget. Critics and audiences praised the performances of the film’s lead actors and the movie for its sensitive portrayal of same-sex love. It won three Oscars, including Best Director for Ang Lee, Best Adapted Screenplay for Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana, and Best Original Score for Gustavo Santaolalla.
