Nissan looks eager to challenge other electric vehicle manufacturers with a new release: the Ariya EV. Building on the successes of the Leaf EV, the Japanese automaker has introduced another all-electric vehicle with more space than the Leaf offered. The Ariya has an interesting origin story, as Nissan was first announced in 2020 and was expected to hit dealerships by 2021. However, the ongoing chip shortage forced Nissan to postpone the electric SUV's launch. Automakers, both established and startups, have struggled with meeting customers' increased demands due to parts scarcity. Some manufacturers have had to discontinue one or two trims to reduce the burden on their supply.
