House of the Dragon star Matt Smith details how he navigates the taboo relationship between Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen. Smith portrays Daemon Targaryen, brother to King Viserys and the uncle of Princess Rhaenyra. Beginning the series as the brutal City Watch commander, Daemon soon morphs into a sly, rogue prince, vying for power across Westeros through alliances with other Houses and marriages. One of his more deceitful actions was killing his first wife, Lady Rhea Royce, in order to marry Laena Velaryon, gaining the trust and resources of her powerful House. However, Laena has her dragon Vhagar kill her due to life-threatening complications during the birth of Daemon's would-be third child.
