Pokémon GO: August 2022 Raid Hour Guide | Screen Rant

Every Wednesday in August, from 6-7 pm local time, players can participate in Pokémon Go's Raid Hour. During Raid Hour, a different Legendary or Mythical Pokémon will spawn at Pokémon Gyms. These will be 5-Star Raids, and players will still have the chance to capture the Legendary Pokémon if they are able to defeat them. The Pokémon are no easier to fight, but Raid Hour makes it easier for players to encounter the Legendary Pokémon during a set time in the week.

In addition to Raid Hours, Pokémon Go also has Spotlight Hour every Tuesday from 6-7 pm local time. During Spotlight Hour, different Pokémon will be found more frequently in the wild, with a higher chance of catching a Shiny if one exists for the spotlighted Pokémon.

Although there are five Wednesdays in August, there will only be four Legendary Pokémon that will appear as 5-Star Raid bosses during Pokémon Go's Raid Hour. Palkia will be featured on August 3, Genesect on both August 10 and August 17, Zacian on August 24, and Zamazenta on August 31. Pokémon Go has stated that Genesect will have a different Drive than it had in its past Pokémon Go appearances, so players who already have one version of Genesect should still try to participate in Raid Hour during August. It's likely that the Genesect for August's Raid Hour will be a Chill Drive Genesect.

Raid Hour is another way for players to get involved with Pokémon Go's community-based events, like this season's Summer of GO, the various Community Days, and Pokémon Go Fest in Seattle, Washington and Sapporo, Japan. For each Wednesday in August, a Legendary Pokémon will be featured in Raids:

  • August 3 - Palkia: Sinnoh region's Legendary Palkia and its Shiny version will appear in 5-Star Boss Raids at Pokémon Go Gyms. Shiny Palkia has a light pink body instead of its normal white body. Palkia is a Water- and Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon with a 54793 Combat Power. It is resistant to Fire, Water, and Steel attacks, but weak to Dragon and Fairy attacks; the best Pokémon players should use to challenge Palkia are Dialga, Rayquaza, Salamence, Dragonite, Reshiram, Haxorus, Garchomp, Latios, Gardevoir, Alola Exeggutor, or any other Pokémon with strong Dragon and/or Fairy attacks.
  • August 10 + 18 - Genesect: Unova region's Mythical Genesect will appear in 5-Star Boss Raids at Pokémon Go Gyms. Genesect is a Bug- and Steel-type Mythical Pokémon with a 47836 Combat Power. It is resistant to Grass, Poison, Bug, Dragon, Fairy, Ice, Normal, Psychic, and Steel attacks, but very weak to Fire attacks; the best Pokémon players should use to challenge Genesect are Reshiram, Chandelure, Darmanitan, Entei, Blaziken, Heatran, Moltres, Flareon, Emboar, Infernape, Charizard, or any other Pokémon with strong Fire attacks.
  • August 24 - Zacian: Galar region's Legendary Zacian will appear in 5-Star Boss Raids at Pokémon Go Gyms. Zacian is a Fairy- and Steel-type Mythical Pokémon with a 52,195 Combat Power.
