Why RHOSLC Is Becoming A Fan-Favorite Real Housewives Show

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 2 just came to an end and fans are touting this series as one of their favorites within the Real Housewives franchise. Since RHOSLC season 1 aired in November 2020, the show has been full of drama, not only between cast members but in their personal lives as well. Fans loved delving into the Salt Lake City world and learning about how Mormonism affected some of the cast members, especially Heather Gay, who left the church after struggling with their doctrine.

Heather quickly became a fan-favorite due to her fun nature but also her ability to be vulnerable and relatable. Fans enjoyed watching her dynamic with fellow RHOLC star Whitney Rose. Whitney also left the Mormon church after having an affair with her now-husband Justin Rose over 10 years ago. At the time, Whitney and Justin were both married and left their spouses to be with each other. They got married after Whitney was pregnant with their first child together and she was excommunicated from the Mormon community because of the scandal.

Fans loved how honest Heather and Whitney were about their past. Viewers have witnessed Real Housewives stars had skeletons come out of their closets after being in the public eye. Fellow RHOSLC star Jen Shah hinted to Whitney that Meredith Marks and her husband Seth Marks’ marriage wasn’t what it seemed. Meredith eventually confessed that she and her husband Seth Marks were separated and that she had been seeing other people. She remained tight-lipped on her personal life and dragged anyone that tried digging too much into her secrets. However, Meredith was the one who did the digging and hired a private detective to look into all the RHOSLC women when her son Brooks Marks started getting bullied online.

The biggest talking point on RHOSLC is the ongoing case against Jen Shah. After season 1 ended, Jen was arrested and charged with counts of alleged wire fraud and money laundering. The moment was caught on camera on RHOSLC season 2 and fans could not stop talking about it. Cast members, along with fans, wondered if Meredith and fellow RHOSLC star Mary Cosby had anything to do with the arrest given that they both had vendettas against Jen. The housewives also wondered if Meredith’s private detective was the one who dug up the dirt on Jen. Meredith, however, denied having anything to do with Jen’s arrest. Jen’s right-hand man Stuart Smith was on RHOSLC and they seemed to have a close relationship, with Jen even feeding him a banana while he worked for her. Stuart and other employees of Jen were also arrested and charged. Stuart eventually pleaded guilty and fans are wondering if he’s going to turn against his former employer and BFF. Jen’s trial is scheduled for March 2022 and she steadfastly has maintained that she is not guilty.

Meredith gave fans a lot to talk about for two seasons. She and Seth decided to give their relationship another try and RHOSLC season 2 showed the Marks pair going on dates and acting more like a couple. Alas, fans couldn’t help but cringe at their awkward behavior together. Seth’s frequent inappropriate jokes failed to be funny and Meredith often seemed stiff and resigned to his humor. Seth also made several remarks about appreciating Whitney’s breasts. During his birthday party, Whitney presented him with a cake shaped like her cleavage, which fans thought was pretty disturbing. Meredith spent much of RHOSLC season 2 defending herself against the other housewives, especially regarding the date of her late father’s memorial. Meredith was missing from the scene featuring Jen’s arrest as she was supposedly attending her father’s memorial. However, Whitney said that Meredith had told her a different date. When Whitney confronted Meredith about it, Meredith stormed off in a rage and said that it was “repugnant” that anyone would question her about her father’s memorial. Meredith double-downed in an Instagram post following the episode and showed her receipt from her hotel stay that day. With that said, fans said that the evidence was dubious as anyone could just book a hotel and say that they had been there.

Overall, Mary was known on RHOSLC for marrying her step-grandfather and taking over their church as the leader of the congregation. However, there were rumors that her church was actually a cult, and the other Housewives had their suspicions as well. RHOSLC cast member Lisa Barlow introduced her friend Cameron Williams to Meredith at a party. Cameron confided in Meredith that he used to be a member of Mary’s church but he thankfully walked away from that situation. He seemed reluctant to give details, but he did have one warning: “Be careful.” Later, it came out that he was coerced to mortgage his house to give Mary a large sum of money. In addition, Mary and Cameron allegedly had an affair while Mary was married to Robert Cosby Sr. Sadly, Cameron passed away soon after his appearance on RHOSLC. Upon hearing about his death, fans immediately wondered if Mary had something to do with it, but Cameron had been dealing with brain tumors most of his life, which was likely the cause.

RHOSLC season 2 newcomer Jennie Nguyen came in with a spunky attitude that fans loved. She wasn’t afraid to fight back when Mary called her out for cursing. Fans also loved hearing her immigration story. Jennie shared how she and her family escaped from Vietnam on a boat but they were captured by Thai pirates and placed in a Thai refugee camp. After spending three years there, a Christian Church sponsored her family and brought them to the US. Fans had high hopes for Jennie, but this turned out to be her only season on RHOSLC. Jennie was fired from Bravo due to past racially insensitive Facebook posts, criticizing the Black Lives Matters movement and the death of George Floyd. Jennie tried to do some damage control by addressing it on Instagram Live, but fans were just not buying it.

Lisa, who is all about being fabulous, did not have such a fabulous second season. She spent much of season 2 trying to understand why her relationship with her BFF Meredith was on the rocks. Meredith was still carrying over hurt from season 1 when Lisa remained friends with Jen after she seemed to support the people that were bullying Meredith’s son Brooks online. Lisa, in turn, was confused as to why Meredith was becoming close to Mary, who said hurtful things to all the RHOSLC cast members. During Jen’s Cinco de Mayo party, Lisa had enough of Meredith not calling Mary out for her behavior and stormed off. While Lisa still had her mic on, she went on a rant about Meredith, calling her a “w*** that f***** half of New York.” During part 1 of the RHOSLC reunion, Meredith, who had just watched the scene for the first time, said that she was “sick” upon hearing what Lisa said. Fans have yet to see if their friendship will ever be repaired but the drama never seems to end with Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Hopefully, this series will continue to keep fans riveted.
