Netflix's Heartstopper Images Reveal First Look At Charlie & Nick

Netflix has released first look images of upcoming teen drama Heartstopper, a highly-anticipated adaptation of Alice Oseman’s popular YA webcomic. Heartstopper, which began in 2016, follows British teenagers Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson as they form an unlikely friendship after being made to sit together in class. The two unexpectedly begin to fall for each other and must learn to navigate life, love, and everything in-between all while dealing with the trials and tribulations of coming out and Charlie’s mental illness. Netflix announced that they would be making a live-action Heartstopper adaptation last year, ordering eight episodes written by Oseman and directed by Euros Lyn (Doctor Who, Sherlock).

The cast was revealed in April last year, with Joe Locke and Kit Connor leading the show as Charlie and Nick respectively. Now, in anticipation of Heartstopper’s release sometime this Spring, Netflix has revealed first look images of six of the comic’s most beloved main characters. The new images also allow fans to glimpse Charlie’s bedroom as well as the school where much of Heartstopper takes place. See the images of Charlie, Nick, Elle (Yasmin Finney), Tara (Corinna Brown), Darcy (Kizzy Edgell), and Tao (William Gao) below:

Fans have previously praised the cast’s likeness to their graphic novel counterparts, and the resemblance seems even stronger now that these stills reveal their costumes (including Truham and Higgs school uniforms). These first-look images confirm that the show is likely to stay true to the original comic, much to fans’ delight. A trailer is surely on the horizon for Heartstopper any day now, and hopefully, an official release date will be announced soon as well.
