Nvidia announced the RTX 3090 Ti last month but has been eerily quiet about the graphics card ever since, with no further details about its specs, price, or availability. The RTX 3090 Ti was unveiled at CES 2022 in Las Vegas in early January. The company said it would announce more details about it by the end of January, but there's been no further word on it so far.
While the RTX 3090 remains MIA, other graphics cards that have already been released, are also largely unavailable for purchase, thanks to the crippling chip shortage. The supply crunch has been an ongoing problem for the best part of two years now, and the situation is so bad that even scalpers have struggled to secure any GPUs.
Having unveiled the RTX 3090 Ti at CES 2022 in early January, Nvidia was expected to announce further details about the card by the end of the month. However, it's now nearly two and a half weeks into February, and there's been no new information from NVDIA. Just recently, Nvidia spokesperson Jen Andersson told The Verge that the company doesn't have any new information to share about the upcoming card, which is a further blow for people hoping to get their hands on one. The news comes a few weeks after multiple reports suggested that Nvidia has stopped production of the 3090 Ti because of issues with the BIOS and hardware. All things considered, the release date of the RTX 3090 Ti remains uncertain, as it remains to be seen how long it will take for Nvidia to sort out the outstanding issues and restart production.
The RTX 3090 Ti promises to offer faster memory and better performance than the standard RTX 3090. While Nvidia is yet to officially announce any of the specs for the upcoming card, online reports have provided some details. According to reports, the RTX 3090 Ti will come with a triple-slot design like the standard model. It is also said to ship with 10752 CUDA cores and 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM running at 21Gbps. The memory will be clocked faster than the standard 3090, which should offer better performance for 4K gaming and AI tasks.
The RTX 3090 Ti will also have a 450W TDP and will be powered through a 16-pin power connector. It is also said to ship with 336 tensor cores (TMUs), 112 ROPs, a base clock of 1560MHz and a boost clock of 1860MHz. There's no word on its pricing yet, but expect it to cost a pretty penny. Notwithstanding the rampant price-gouging, the standard RTX 3090 already has a massive asking price of $1,499, which suggests that Nvidia's RTX 3090 Ti will be out of reach for most buyers, even at MSRP.
