Warning! SPOILERS for The Book of Boba Fett episode 7.
During The Book of Boba Fett finale, one of the Mods does an unnecessary spin move in the battle, and there's a likely reason for it. Boba Fett's (Temuera Morrison) war against the Pykes comes to fruition in The Book of Boba Fett finale. In the episode, the Pykes sneakily ambush Boba Fett's troops with the help of Tatooine locals. Unfortunately, the Pyke Syndicate also brings shielded Scorpenek Droids, which overpower the ex-bounty hunter's forces. However, Boba Fett gets help from his rancor, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Grogu, Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), and the Mods to eventually defeat the Pykes.
The Mods joined Boba Fett's forces in The Book of Boba Fett episode 3. The characters are Tatooine youths who modify their bodies with droid parts. They also try to stand out on Tatooine, riding on Vespa-like speeder bikes. However, the lack of available work and sky-high prices for goods leave them with nothing to resort to but a life of crime. To fix their situation, Boba Fett recruits them to be his enforcers and informants. It's a mutually beneficial relationship. The Mods get jobs that put their skills to use, and the group provides Boba Fett with valuable reconnaissance and muscle during fights.
During the battle against the Pykes, one Mod makes a questionable spin move, and there may be a reason for it. In the season 1 finale, Drash (Sophie Thatcher) and Skad (Jordan Bolger) run to help Black Krrsantan (Carey Jones), who's been injured during the fighting. However, Pyke troops come running from around the corner and threaten the trio. Skad doesn't hesitate. The Mod pushes Black Krrsantan's shoulder off of himself, makes a spin move, and starts firing at the Pykes. Following The Book of Boba Fett finale scene, viewers questioned the reason for the spin move, which seemed utterly unnecessary in the fight. But the reason may come back to the episode's director, Robert Rodriguez.
If anything, Robert Rodriguez isn't scared to go over the top. The director considers himself a filmmaking rebel, bucking conventions for kinetic, hyper-stylized storytelling. His films include everything from Danny Trejo riding motorcycles away from explosions in Machete to kids battling giant thumbs in the Spy Kids franchise. The director loves style for style's sake, and the Mods in The Book of Boba Fett seem to share that appreciation. After all, despite Tatooine being a run-down desert, the Mods sport flashy vehicles and give themselves cyberpunk-like looks. Due to their own style, the Mods and their spin moves are perfect for Robert Rodriguez's Boba Fett series.
Though it's probably not the case, there could be practical reasons behind the Star Wars character's spin move. Perhaps the Mod thought the spin would give him the element of surprise. Skad also has a robotic eye, so he could've even been scanning the area as he did the spin. But, of course, the more likely answer simply comes back to Rodriguez's direction in The Book of Boba Fett. After all, the spin move is pretty strange. But, considering the director's love of style, it'd almost be stranger if the Mod didn't do the spin.
