Aerith Gainsborough dazzles fans in an incredible image captured in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade exclusively on the PlayStation 5. When it was first released on the PS4 in April 2020, FFVII Remake was lauded for its graphical capabilities. However, unlike many AAA titles, the eagerly anticipated remake originally did not offer a photo mode, leading disappointed fans to speak out in hopes of receiving such a mode in a future update.
In-game photographers and Final Fantasy fans had to wait until FFVII Remake Intergrade’s release on June 10, 2021 to take pictures of their favorite characters, Aerith included. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade features a photo mode, and also boasts features like enhanced textures, lighting, and fog effects, which can help fans use the photo mode to good effect. From July 23 to September 16, 2021, the official Final Fantasy VII Twitter is holding a photo mode contest for a chance to win a physical art card signed by members of the game’s development team. Each week has a specific theme, and this week was centered around Aerith.
In-game pictures of the beloved flower peddler flooded Twitter with the tag #FF7RContest. Among them was this fantastic photo captured by virtual photographer Arisen Gaming. Captioned “Goddess of the Lifestream,” the image shows Aerith amidst some destruction, casting Arcane Ward, with a nice depth of field and a bold lens flare. The image is impressive, and showcases Aerith's magical might to good effect.

Quote tweeted by the official FFVII Twitter account, Arisen Gaming’s fantastic photo joins the many magical moments captured by players and highlighted by Square Enix. It is nice to see the publisher shining a light on the passionate and creative Final Fantasy fanbase. Hopefully, Square Enix will provide more opportunities for fans to share their artistic side, whether it be through in-game photos, fan art, writing, or even Final Fantasy 7 cosplay.
As engaging as this photo contest is, players hoping to enter would ultimately need a PlayStation 5 to run FFVII Remake Intergrade as it is exclusive to the new console. The PS5 is still notoriously hard to purchase, especially due to the global semiconductor shortage. Currently, the base FFVII Remake game still does not support a photo mode, and it looks like Square Enix will not bring Intergrade or the Yuffie-centric Episode INTERmission over to the PS4. However, although not officially confirmed, an Epic Games Store database leak indicated that FFVII Remake may be coming to PC. Until then, Final Fantasy fans will have to wait and watch the photos roll in.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is available now on PlayStation 5.
