Gabe Brown is the middle child of the Brown family in Alaskan Bush People. He wanted to focus on his wife Raquell and daughter Sophia, rather than roughing it in the wilderness, so he left the mountains. Gabe is 29 as of 2020, the fourth son in the family. His wedding was a private ceremony, in January 2019.
There have been twelve seasons of the show, and viewers are waiting on the Discovery Channel to announce a release date for season 13. When not filming near Hoonah, Alaska, the Browns have a similar lifestyle in Washington State, although they will travel south to Beverly Hills to get cancer treatments for matriarch Ami. Ami has lung cancer but is currently in remission. The family has put their Alaskan house on the market, through Alaskan Reality.
The Discovery Channel website went into details about Gabe's life and personality. When he was 3, his family took him on a fishing boat in the ocean. Gabe as a result developed a love of the sea, and a "bond" according to his bio. He remains chipper while working hard and keeping a positive attitude. This apparently helps when he's doing chores that require muscle power, including getting necessary lumber. Gabe also loves drawing and specializing in realism. One day he wants to get into portraiture as a possible career. Gabe is also fluent in sign language after studying for a few years. Raquell also said he has a good sense of humor and always manages to make her laugh.
With that said, Raquell has been pretty quiet on social media, ostensibly to receive some privacy. Meanwhile, Gabe occasionally posts a photo of his wife on Instagram and talks about how wonderful she is. Aside from that, he wants to keep time with Raquell on the downlow, especially when they don't have a camera trained on them. Their daughter is a newborn and potential bush baby, too young to get acclimated to the spotlight. People only know that her name is Sophie, and that Gabe is proud to be her father.
Gabe is one of the few family members that doesn't have allegations about criminal behavior or a record. Even his parents have had run-ins with the law, while his brother Matt left the show after two women accused him of sexual assault. Matt has embraced sobriety and is breaking his social media silence, while looking like he is working to clean up his image. As far as viewers know, Gabe has not committed any welfare fraud or tax evasion. He seems to be pragmatic enough to not let any potential faults end up on a permanent record. Gabe is also good with kids; social media posts with Bear's infant son shows that the kid adores him.
In fact, Gabe seems to be the most understanding of the family about why privacy is important. Not having that special time with your significant other can prove detrimental to the relationship. It probably didn't help that after he married Raquell, Ami was not thrilled about housing the newlyweds in Washington State. Ami encouraged them to move out and seek independence. In 2019, the couple did so, with the money that Gabe had earned from being on the show. Unlike some of his brothers, however, Gabe didn't want to leave the state completely. He wanted to ensure that his wife and daughter were close to his in-laws. That shows a willingness to compromise, and to grow up.
