Top 10 TV Shows From The 2010s On Netflix To Watch, According To IMDb

When it comes to TV shows, there is no decade more loaded on Netflix than the 2010s. This was the era when the streaming service branched out into becoming a juggernaut. They also started creating their own original content, including many shows and movies that were well received.

The series available from the decade are among the best found anywhere. Great shows like GLOWCobra KaiDaredevilSchitt's Creek, and The Good Place couldn't make the cut, which should explain the quality of content listed here. Only shows with at least 100,000 ratings on IMDb have been considered for this list.

10 The Crown (8.7)

There were multiple shows tied with this rating, including Cobra Kai (which had under 100,000 ratings). The Crown earns this spot and it's one of Netflix's most ambitious projects. The series follows the life and political rivalries of Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family.

Every couple of seasons, the show recasts the main characters as they're depicted in different eras of their lives. For example, Claire Foy and Olivia Colman have both played Queen Elizabeth II, while Vanessa Kirby and Helena Bonham Carter portrayed Princess MargaretThe Crown is one of the most expensive shows ever made and is set to premiere its fifth season in 2022.

9 Better Call Saul (8.7)

Breaking Bad is often considered arguably the greatest show ever created. The second season introduced Saul Goodman, a scheming and greedy lawyer who stole every scene he was in. When 2015 came around, a spinoff was made surrounding Goodman titled Better Call Saul.

This show follows the exploits of Goodman from his days as an earnest lawyer named Jimmy McGill. It's the rare case of a prequel spinoff being just as good as the show it's based on. Bob Odenkirk is phenomenal as the lead and the series has been nominated for over 30 Emmys to date.

8 Stranger Things (8.7)

When it comes to Netflix's biggest original series, Stranger Things might rank at the top. Debuting in 2016, this has been a massive success and has already become a pop culture staple. The sci-fi horror created by the Duffer Brothers has made stars out of its young cast, turned David Harbour into a big name, and brought Winona Ryder back to prominence.

By taking a glorious look at the '80s, the show manages to scratch the nostalgia itch that most people have for the era. It centers on a small town in Indiana and the supernatural events that occur there, fought off by a group of kids (one with superpowers), a police chief, and more.

7 One-Punch Man (8.8)

Based on a wildly popular manga, One-Punch Man is one of the most well-received anime series in recent memory. The original webcomic has millions of hits, while the manga has over 20 million copies printed. As for the anime, it only spanned a mere 24 episodes.

However, those episodes were considered fantastic and a pretty strong adaptation. The plot focused on Saitama, a hero who has actually grown bored with things because he's powerful enough to end all of his fights with a single punch.

6 Dark (8.8)

When Netflix audiences first laid eyes upon Dark in 2017, most were immediately drawn to it. After all, it's aesthetically similar to Stranger Things, which was absurdly popular. However, this was quite different and made history as Netflix's first German language original series.

Dark took place in a small town in Germany as four families are unexpectedly connected after two children go missing. Along with supernatural occurrences, the show also sees the characters uncover a time travel conspiracy and more. Dark wrapped up its three-season run in 2020.

5 Narcos (8.8)

One of the most well-received Netflix original shows ever made, Narcos debuted in 2015. The series was based on the criminal adventures of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. The third and final season picked up after Escobar's fall and the attempts to shut down the Cali Cartel.

Impressive talents like Wagner Moura and Pedro Pascal led the cast of this acclaimed series, which eventually spawned Narcos: Mexico, a series that's on its second season. Moura and the show itself both received Golden Globe nominations in 2016.

4 Peaky Blinders (8.8)

Beginning in 2013, Peaky Blinders is a British drama series set in the aftermath of the First World War. The period crime drama follows the Shelby crime family, a gang known for sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps, who were led by the vicious Tommy Shelby.

After wrapping its fifth season in 2019, there is talk of more coming in the future. Peaky Blinders features an outstanding cast including Cillian Murphy, Sam Neill, Adrien Brody, Sophie Rundle, and most recently, Anya Taylor-Joy. It scored several BAFTA wins, including for Best Drama Series.

3 Black Mirror (8.8)

Anthology series have become all the rage in recent years, with the most notable probably being American Horror Story. Debuting in 2011, Black Mirror took it to the next level, with each episode telling a different story instead of doing one over an entire season, similar to The Twilight Zone.

Often focusing on dystopian futures, this sci-fi series is known to examine society and deal with the consequences of an overreliance on technology. The show scored multiple Emmy wins and has featured major actors like Anthony Mackie, Daniel Kaluuya, Hayley Atwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, and more.

2 When They See Us (8.9)

Sometimes, a show is so powerful that it's actually a bit hard to watch. That's the case with When They See Us, which was tough because it told a true story and dealt with some difficult subject matter. It was based on the famed 1989 Central Park jogger case.

In it, five teens from Harlem are falsely accused of rape and assault. The 2019 four-episode miniseries centered on the unjust nature of these events and how it changed the lives of everyone involved. It scored 11 Emmy nominations and helped make the cast and creator Ava DuVernay into big stars.

1 Sherlock (9.1)

Variations of Sherlock Holmes stories have flooded pop culture for decades. However, there's a good chance that none have done it better than BBC's Sherlockwhich initially premiered in 2010. It's a modern update on the classic tales of the detective and his partner Watson.

Led by stellar performances from Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and Andrew Scott, nearly every episode of this series has scored a fantastic rating on IMDb. Sherlock has racked up several accolades, including multiple BAFTAs and Emmys, with Cumberbatch and Freeman taking home one each of the latter.
