Infinity War Art Argues Squirrel Girl Could’ve Beat Thanos For Avengers

Avengers: Infinity War fan art suggests Squirrel Girl would've defeated Thanos for the Avengers. Created in the early 1990s by Will Murray and Steve Ditko, Squirrel Girl was meant to be a response to the dark and serious comics that were popular at the time. Squirrel Girl's real name is Doreen Green, and she has the admittedly outlandish powers of a squirrel. The character has proven to be immensely popular over the years, and there were once even plans to bring her to the small screen with a New Warriors series at Freeform. However, those plans later fell apart, and Squirrel Girl has so far been kept to comics and animation.

2018's Infinity War was, at the time of its release, the biggest Marvel crossover event to hit the big screen. Featuring nearly every established MCU hero, Infinity War finally put the spotlight on Thanos (Josh Brolin) after years of hyping him up as he embarked on his quest to collect all six Infinity Stones. Fans were utterly shocked when the film ended with Thanos winning; with a Snap of his fingers, he used the power of the Infinity Stones to destroy half of all life throughout the universe.

Even now, two years later, fans are still speculating about what could've led to an Avengers victory in Infinity War. Artist pencilHead7 might've figured out just what the superteam was missing: Squirrel Girl. This piece imagines Squirrel Girl facing off with Thanos alongside Captain America (Chris Evans). When Thanos declares "I have the Infinity Gauntlet," Cap counters with, "We have a Squirrel Girl." Clearly, that should be enough to take down the Mad Titan. Check out the piece down below.

Squirrel Girl might not seem like the most formidable of opponents, but in actuality, she's defeated a number of major Marvel villains. In fact, she even took out Thanos in the GLX-Mas Special, though exactly how she did so is unclear. Regardless, there's little doubt that if she's capable of beating Thanos in the comics, Squirrel Girl totally could've secured a win for the Avengers in Infinity War.

Of course, the Avengers got their victory a year later in 2019's Avengers: Endgame. That film somehow managed to include even more characters than Infinity War did, though sadly, Squirrel Girl missed out on the action that time too. Currently, there aren't any plans to introduce her into the MCU, but never say never. The MCU has a knack for featuring odder characters from the comics and turning them into superstars, and there could very well be a spot for her in the future. Perhaps the Avengers will need her help if Doctor Doom ever turns up in the franchise.
