90 Day Fiancé: Why Kenneth & Armando Fear Marriage License Denial

Stars of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Kenneth Niedermeier and Armando Rubio think their marriage license won't be approved in Mexico. They both have different reasons to believe they might be prohibited from taking the next step in their relationship.

On season two of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Armando opened up to his family and told them he is now engaged to his partner, Kenneth. Before leaving his parents' house, the 31-year-old reality TV star told his mother, Virginia, that he plans to marry Kenny. Virginia was glad to see her son happy but still thinks there is no need for the couple to tie the knot. She then suggested he get married in a small, private ceremony so fewer people are involved. Armando understood his mother is still struggling with him being gay. His father was also reluctant to talk to him initially, but he did show up to say goodbye when the couple was about to leave San Felipe.

Kenneth, Armando, and his daughter, Hannah, have now settled in their new home, La Misión. The first-ever male gay couple of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise is now planning to get a marriage license, but they both have apprehensions about starting the process. The sneak peek of the November 1 episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way shows that Kenneth wishes to have the license as soon as possible so he can then get residency and start earning money. But he thinks the age gap of 26 years between him and Armando might cause a problem, and the civil registry clerk could see it as a "red flag." Armando, however, says he's writing a letter to the authorities explaining that they are both over the age of 18 and have been in a relationship for the past three years. Check out the video below:

The Mexican native is also unsure if they will get a positive answer and the permission to get married. During a confessional, he explains that same-sex marriages in Mexico have been legal since 2015. But still, gay couples face "troubles" while getting their marriage license approved. He further tells the camera that gay marriages are "looked down upon" in his country because of its conservative "culture."

Still, the 57-year-old Florida native is hopeful that the concerned officers might find them "cute" and approve their license without giving them a "hard time." Unfortunately, another sneak peek of the upcoming episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way confirms that the civil registry clerk denies their request. Fans will have to tune in to see what this couple does to get past the new obstacle in their relationship.
