Fall Guys Season 2 Adds Player Banners And Nicknames

The community manager of Fall Guys has revealed a new addition to the beloved battle royale in the form of player banners and nicknames. This addition was hinted at just yesterday in an update that also promised to make crowns easier to obtain for all players, regardless of skill level. It's one of the many changes that will be coming in the game's second season.

Evolution is key to any successful online game, and if Fall Guys is anything, it's a successful online game. Its initial launch broke Steam servers with player counts higher than even the developers expected. The game has made the most money on PC since similarly popular online juggernaut Overwatch. In order to keep its titanic player base invested and excited, Fall Guys has begun gearing up for a second season of content which should be just as delightfully bombastic as the first, featuring a medieval theme represented by castle-shaped obstacles and adorable wizard outfits.

But the gameplay isn't the only thing changing in Fall Guys season 2. As community manager Oliver has revealed on Twitter, season 2 will be bringing a whole new level of customization to the game's iconic jelly beans. Players will be able to unlock special player banners in a whole new "interface" menu. These banners are as colorful as can be expected from a Fall Guys feature; Oliver showed off a pride flag and a watermelon-inspired banner, among others. In addition to these banners, players will also be able to collect and equip certain nicknames that will be displayed on their new banner below the name of their jelly bean. Oliver showed off monikers like "Big Yeeted," "Rookie," and "Trying Their Best." He also mentioned that some future nicknames might be community-generated, and even uniquely assigned to players who've managed something remarkable in the eyes of the player base.

Compared to the new obstacle courses and challenges to be arriving in season 2, the addition of a simple cosmetic item like this might seem like a minor thing. But video game players love being able to express themselves. The overabundance of costumes and color palettes in the game proves this fact quite handily. Banners and nicknames are a minor cosmetic choice, but it's one more thing about one's player character that they have control over, and that in and of itself is very important for a lot of people.

Fall Guys owes a lot of its success to its community manager. The game's presence on Twitter has consistently been a delight for a lot of fans, and a great way for players to learn more about what's coming to the game in the future. It's pretty evident from these Tweets how much the team at Mediatonic loves its creation, and once season 2 arrives with banners and nicknames, players can show off their love just as well.
