The Biggest Trailers To Expect At New York Comic Con 2018

New York Comic Con is just around the corner and hype is starting to build, not least for all the movie and TV trailers which may be shown off at the event, which lasts from October 4 through October 7. While NYCC is a rare opportunity for dedicated fans to meet their on-screen heroes and get a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes effort that goes into making movie magic, it also promises new looks at upcoming releases - many of which will be making their way online for everyone to enjoy.

Anticipation for NYCC 2018 is definitely high. There are some big franchises in attendance, both in panels and on the floor. It's expected that many, especially on the TV side, will bring with them some fresh footage - from Marvel's superheroes to big-budget reboots, prestigious TV shows, and everything in between.

Pop culture enthusiasts should strap themselves in, because it's going to be an exciting weekend. Here's every movie and TV show we expect to see at New York Comic Con 2018.

Movie Trailers To Expect At NYCC 2018

There are several big movies coming to NYCC this year. Perhaps largest of all is the start of the marketing push for Hellboy. With the film out in April 2019, a trailer seems a fair bet - it's a little over six months away with only a couple of official images. The panel is at 11:00am EST on Saturday, October 6, so expect it around then.

Another film with its own panel and an expected trailer is How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, the third and final chapter in the Dreamworks Animation fantasy franchise (Sunday, October 7, 12:30pm EST). A teaser was released in June, so a new trailer is about due. Also at NYCC is the Peter Jackson-produced Mortal Engines, based on the hit YA novel, with a panel on Friday at 12:00pm EST, so a final trailer for the December release is rather likely.

There's also an outside chance we'll get a new look at some DC films. With Aquaman's December 21 release date is rapidly approaching, a second trailer is imminent. DC has no movie panel at NYCC, but the weekend could be a good time to release. However, it's more likely it will release before to pair with Venom. The same is true of Shazam!, which is said to have a shorter version of its SDCC trailer coming.

Also in attendance is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which has a Saturday panel. However, its latest trailer just released to show in cinemas alongside Venom. There'll surely be new footage at the panel, but nothing else new released. What definitely won't be at NYCC is Avengers 4. That's one of the most anticipated trailers, but with Marvel Studios having no presence at NYCC 2018 (and never having released a trailer there before), it's highly improbable.

On the television side of the NYCC equation, there are even more exciting things to look out for, as a lot of shows in attendance will be sharing footage or entire episodes at their panels. When it comes to trailer pickings are a little slimmer, since in the run-up to the fall TV schedule many shows have already released trailers. However, we can still expect a few big names.

The new season of FXX's Archer, "1999," will have its own panel, which will hopefully produce a trailer and a release date for the upcoming tenth season of the acclaimed spy comedy. The Archer: 1999 panel is scheduled for October 7 at 4:30pm EST.

Hulu will have a panel for Marvel's Runaways, and while the first trailer for the second season recently debuted, the description for the panel promises "never-before-seen-footage." That could come in the form of a new trailer, a sizzle reel, or simply a clip. The Runaways panel is scheduled for October 5 at 2:00pm EST.

Fantasy icon Neil Gaiman will be involved in no less than two panels: American Gods is preparing to unleash its second season on Starz, and Good Omens, based on his debut novel (co-written with the late Terry Pratchett) is on its way to Amazon Prime and BBC Two in 2019. Both shows and are sure to be huge draws this year, with exclusive footage for NYCC attendees and internet teasers for the fans at home. Likewise, Amazon Prime's adaptation of the Garth Ennis comic, The Boys, is also currently in need of a release date and a flashy announcement trailer. In 2017, NYCC hosted the first trailer for Future Man, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the first footage from its sophomore season at some point during the festivities.

Streaming giant Netflix is hosting multiple panels, including a celebration of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, the 21st-century reboot of the 1980s animated children's series, scheduled for October 4, 3:00pm EST. A second season of The Punisher is also on the way, but NYCC might be too soon to expect new footage to debut. Between The Haunting of Hill HouseUmbrella Academy, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the Jim Henson-inspired prequel, Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Netflix is making a strong push, although it's unclear which of those titles will get official trailers released online.

There's going to be a ton of game-changing content revealed at New York Comic Con 2018. From movie and TV trailers to informative panels about every corner of geekdom, there's truly something special for everyone. We'll keep you updated on all the biggest news and reveals throughout the weekend.
