Grant Gustin Teases Epic Flash Action Scene He's Waited 5 Years To Do

The Flash season 5 will bring to life a scene that star Grant Gustin has been wanting to do since the very start of the series. Of any of the Arrowverse shows, The Flash season 5 remains the most mysterious. Chris Klein will be playing the season's villain Cicada but what Cicada wants and how he ties into the story overall is a huge question mark.

This secrecy is mainly because season 4 ended on a huge cliffhanger. After making quick appearances all season, Jessica Parker Kennedy's character introduced herself as Nora West-Allen, the future daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West. Nora claimed that she had made a huge mistake. Whatever Nora's blunder is it'll probably drive most of season 5's plot. Whether Nora or Cicada tie into Gustin's big action scene remains to be seen but The Flash star is making some big promises about what to expect.

Fansided spoke to Gustin at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. After explaining that it's a ton of fun to work with Kennedy as Nora, Gustin talked about his long-awaited action scene. The actor explained:

We’ve got an action sequence in [season 5]. It’s something straight out of the comics that when I read in 2013, when I was shooting Arrow and dreaming of stuff we could do someday on Flash. We’re doing something I thought we would never be able to do. There’s a really cool action sequence.

Gustin's tease may not sound like a huge deal until it's considered how much The Flash has done already. The Flash has adapted many classic storylines and cool action moments from the comics already. The Flash has covered everything from The Trial of the Flash and Flashpoint to Barry going so fast that he runs on top of a helicopter's blades. The Flash has done a tremendous amount for its TV budget when it comes to action but that doesn't mean the show is completely out of ideas for innovation.

There are several classic superpowers and abilities of The Flash that the show has yet to cover. The Flash has shot bolts of lightning from his arms, time traveled several times and even lent his super speed to others in "Flash Time" but that's not all that the speedster has in his arsenal. One of the most notable "missing powers" is the Speed Vortex. While Barry has created cyclones with his speed before, he always comes a little short of a vortex. When using the Speed Vortex The Flash is able to operate at such a high velocity he creates powerful Speed Force tunnels with his appendages. These tunnels of force can be used as projectiles or to effectively make The Flash fly, allowing him to propel himself off the ground and fall from great heights unharmed.

With Nora West-Allen coming from the future Barry (and fans) can probably expect to get several new lessons on what The Flash can do. Nora would have intimate knowledge of all the powers her father can exhibit, not only because she's a speedster herself but presumably because she's watched Barry be The Flash for far longer than he's been the hero in the present. It's already because of Nora that Barry will be receiving a brand-new Flash suit in season 5. Nora helping Barry expose his chin while fighting crime is probably the least impressive way she'll assist.
