Directors Anthony and Joe Russo have shed some light on the post-production process for Avengers 4, revealing when they expect to lock picture on the superhero sequel. Given how Avengers: Infinity War ended, with the fate of multiple MCU heroes in question, Avengers 4 may very well be the most anticipated movie of 2019, along with Disney's other blockbuster-to-be, Star Wars: Episode IX. While the Russo Brothers may still be able to find time to troll fans over the Avengers 4 title, their primary focus right now is putting all of the finishing touches in place for the final MCU Phase 3 movie, and they still have a lot of work ahead of them.
In the absence of any legitimate updates on Avengers 4, fans have been keeping busy lately, to pass the time. One Avengers 4 fan trailer united Earth's Mightiest Heroes with the X-Men, while another fan whipped up some artwork featuring Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) holding the decapitated head of Thanos. Another fan revealed a post-credit scene idea that would reunite Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) with the love of his life, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). Fans are still months away from seeing the first trailer, so at this point, they'll take any Avengers 4 morsel they can get.

In a report on the Russo's new movie, Dhaka, Deadline has a brief update on Avengers 4. Anthony Russo revealed they have been working on the edit "all summer," and that they expect to be in post-production throughout both the fall and winter months, adding, "We hope to be done by March."
The revelation that the post-production process will extend until March 2019 isn't too surprising. After all, it was this past March when Marvel made the unexpected decision to move up Infinity War a week to late April, a response possibly to Deadpool 2's shift from June 1 to May 18 as well as the desire to release the movie worldwide on the same day (or, at least the same week).
Infinity War wrapped principal photography in July 2017, giving the filmmakers roughly nine and a half months to complete post-production. Avengers 4 wrapped in January 2018, while the Russos were still in post on Infinity War, with Avengers 4 reshoots taking place this summer. Even if Marvel does make a surprising release date adjustment to Avengers 4, if they wrap in March, they should be ready for it. After all, if Infinity War proved anything, it's that Marvel can open a movie whenever they want - and fans will still show up in droves.
